i am a 20-something from upstate ny. discovered, quite by accident, a copy of High Plains in a used record store while a junior in college. i’d bought myself a record player, after feeling i was getting ripped off through CD sales. this album truly is beautiful. sometimes in our lives, songs and music have an inate ability to mark chapters for us, and this album (going to the sun in particular) instantly open to a very happy page for me. on the off chance this ever reaches you, philip, thank you profoundly. i continue to search for a video of you playing live. loved your point about a river making music– i fly fish in the summer.

Hi Phil and Patty. I missed this program (Music and the River, by Phil) when it came out, and I heard it now for the first time. Just had to send a note to tell you that it is one of the most beautiful, well-put-together pieces that has ever hit the radio waves. Phil, your peacefulness, understanding, creativity, and deeply-connected spirit all come through in this marvelous program. I’m proud to know you and can tell from your voice that you are doing well in your life. Much love from me to you both. Hope to see you somewhere before too long. Yer ol’ buddy Greg.
